This page explains what information The Insurance Guide collects, why, and what your choices are. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate — if anything is unclear, email us at privacy@theinsurance.guide.
What we collect
When you use the subsidy calculator, we collect the inputs you enter: your ZIP code, ages of household members, household size, and estimated annual income. These are used only to compute your estimate and are not stored unless you take a further step.
If you choose to unlock the full plan-by-plan results table, you will be asked for a contact email address and, optionally, a phone number. We store that contact information together with your calculator inputs and a record of the exact consent language you accepted at that moment. Nothing is collected before that point — the estimate itself requires no account and no signup.
How we use it
With your express consent, your contact information and calculator inputs are shared with a licensed insurance agent or agency so they can reach out about coverage options that match your situation. The consent checkbox states that your information may be shared with a licensed insurance agent or agency, and the exact consent text you accepted is recorded with your submission.
We do not sell your information to anyone other than the licensed partner(s) described in the consent you accepted. Health-related inputs — including income as it relates to plan eligibility — are not used for any purpose beyond facilitating that referral. We do not use them for advertising, profiling, or any secondary purpose.
If you only use the calculator for an estimate and never unlock full results, your inputs are not stored and not shared with anyone.
Retention and your choices
Lead records — your contact details, inputs, and consent record — are kept only as long as needed for the referral and to meet applicable legal and compliance requirements. We do not hold your data indefinitely.
To request deletion of any record we hold about you, email privacy@theinsurance.guide with the email address you provided. We will confirm receipt and complete deletion within a reasonable time.
Cookies and analytics
We do not currently use analytics or advertising trackers on this site. If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, this section will be updated first.
