Scheduled personal property
Updated for plan year 2026
In plain terms
Scheduled personal property is an endorsement that insures specific high-value items (jewelry, watches, cameras, instruments) for their full appraised value, above the low category caps standard policies apply. Standard renters and home policies often cap categories like jewelry at around $1,500 total for theft.
A plain example
You own a $6,000 engagement ring. Without scheduling it, a theft claim pays only the roughly $1,500 category cap; with it scheduled for $6,000, the policy pays its full appraised value.
Why it matters
If your valuables exceed the standard cap, a theft claim pays a fraction of their worth unless you schedule them. It also usually removes the deductible and covers more causes, like accidental loss.
